The Serious and Complex Crime apprenticeship is your gateway to obtaining a BSc (Hons) Serious and Complex Crime– all with no tuition fees! The BSc (Hons) the Serious and Complex Crime Investigator Integrated Degree Apprenticeship has been developed to meet the requirements of the Serious and Complex Crime Investigator Standard, and the QAA Forensics and Policing Benchmarks.

The degree is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to operate effectively in advanced investigative roles. This programme is also designed to support professional development for those aiming to work within serious and complex investigations across various law enforcement agencies.

Integrated Degree Apprenticeship students will learn via a combination of on-the-job training and innovative academic modules that critically engage with contemporary investigative practices, in collaboration with their employers.

Teaching will be shared with the restructured BSc (Hons) Forensic and Police Investigations degree where the programmes share common material. This approach will create unique opportunities for students on both pathways to collaborate, enhancing their employability skills through industry-relevant activities and coursework, whilst allowing for the specialisation required to meet the apprenticeship standard and sector benchmarks in appropriate areas.

Students will explore key areas including criminal law, ethics and accountability, the criminal justice system, overt and covert investigations, evidence-based practice, intelligence management, forensic techniques, research methods, and public protection. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of investigative practice, its role within law enforcement, and its wider social, political, and cultural contexts.
