Dr Andrew McDonnell: The English Curriculum Lead Celebrates PhD Success

University Centre Peterborough (UCP) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Andrew McDonnell, the HE English Curriculum Lead, on his remarkable achievement of successfully completing his PhD in Creative and Critical Writing! This accomplishment not only underscores Andrew’s dedication and expertise but also reflects UCP’s commitment to fostering excellence in the field of creative writing.

Andrew McDonnell’s journey to obtaining his PhD was not only marked by his personal dedication but was also supported by the Inspire Education Group (IEG). During his final writing-up year, he benefited from IEG’s sponsorship, allowing him to delve into researching disruptive second-person narratives in short fiction about working-class lives.

Andrew expressed his gratitude, stating, “my final writing-up year was sponsored by IEG, where I researched disruptive second-person narratives in short-fiction about working-class lives. I hope to publish the creative part of my thesis in 2025.”

In alignment with its commitment to nurturing emerging talent in creative writing, University Centre Peterborough offers the Malcolm Bradbury Scholarship Bursary for students pursuing the BA (Hons) Creative Writing program.

The £7,500 scholarship serves as a testament to UCP’s dedication to empowering aspiring writers and facilitating their educational journey in the world of literature.

University Centre Peterborough offer degrees in English Literature and there is now a £7,500 Malcolm Bradbury Scholarship Bursary. The Bursary of £7,500 is available to students from underrepresented and/or socio-economic backgrounds. This will also support living costs that allow students time to develop and promote literacy activities.
