Our Animal Management and Welfare Students Have Enjoyed Another Amazing Trip to Whipsnade Zoo!
On this visit, the students learnt all about assessing and managing behaviour in a zoo environment.
This included creating enrichment for the chimpanzees, in which they witnessed some excellent tool-use capabilities when the chimps had to retrieve some of their peanuts from the moat.
The students were also lucky enough to have a behind-the-scenes look at the complexity of training chimps for a range of health monitoring protocols, including vaccination and sonography.
To top off the day, our students were asked to undertake a welfare assessment of the newly constructed Aardvark enclosure, and visited the amazing newly born giraffe – Wilfred!
