University Centre Peterborough Welcomes Peterborough College Animal Management Students for Specialist Higher Education Experience
University Centre Peterborough (UCP) recently welcomed Level 3 Year 2 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Animal Management students from Peterborough College to its exclusive higher education environment for an immersive introduction to degree-level animal sciences.
Designed to give local college students a direct taste of university-level study, the visit provided an engaging combination of academic lectures, facility tours, and degree pathway exploration within UCP’s dedicated study spaces.
During the session, visiting students attended a presentation delivered by Fiona Jayne Coombs, focusing on how psychological and physical trauma impact animal heart health. The lecture introduced students to advanced concepts in animal physiology and welfare science, offering real insight into the depth of academic study expected at the undergraduate level.
The students were also guided through UCP’s exclusive animal care facilities by John-Paul, showcasing the specialist resources and practical environments available to undergraduate students. Following the tour, John-Paul delivered an overview of UCP’s Animal Studies degree programs, highlighting the clear local progression routes available for college students aiming to advance their qualifications and launch careers in animal care, conservation, and welfare.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local education, University Centre Peterborough continues to partner with regional colleges to help students explore higher education options and transition seamlessly into degree-level study.
