University Centre Peterborough Launches First Postgraduate Qualification – MA in Creative Writing

University Centre Peterborough (UCP), part of Inspire Education Group, is proud to announce the launch of its first postgraduate qualification, the Master of Arts (MA) in Creative Writing.

Set to begin in September 2026, this significant milestone reflects UCP’s continued commitment to expanding advanced academic opportunities and supporting creative talent within the local region. 

After 15 years since opening, the MA in Creative Writing represents an exciting new chapter for University Centre Peterborough, offering students the chance to deepen their craft across a broad spectrum of creative practices, including fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and scriptwriting for film, radio and performance. The programme has been designed to nurture both creative and professional writing skills, encouraging students to produce work of professional quality while engaging with contemporary literary and cultural contexts. 

Students will have the flexibility to specialise in a primary genre of their choice while exploring a secondary genre, enabling a tailored pathway that reflects individual aspirations and strengths. Delivered in a collaborative and workshop-focused environment, the course emphasises peer feedback, critical reading and independent creativity. 

UCP is also pleased to extend its established relationship with the Malcolm Bradbury Trust to its new postgraduate programme. The Trust, founded in honour of the acclaimed novelist and academic Malcom Bradbury, will generously provide one student bursary of £2,500 per intake, ensuring talented writers at the postgraduate level receive meaningful financial and professional support.
