University Centre Peterborough Welcomed Back Alumni Alex Aldrich To Inspire The Next Generation Of Journalists And Digital Marketers.
University Centre Peterborough (UCP) recently welcomed back alumna Alex Aldrich, who returned to her roots to share her professional journey and industry expertise with the next generation of media professionals.
During her visit, Alex met with students from the BA (Hons) Journalism and BA (Hons) Digital Marketing and Communications degrees, as well as Level 3 Journalism students from Peterborough College. The session provided a rare “behind-the-scenes” look at the fast-paced world of Digital PR.
Alex, who has successfully carved out a Freelance career in Digital Marketing, detailed her professional journey from the classroom to the industry. Her talk bridged the gap between academic theory and the daily routines of working as a Digital Marketer.
For Nick Reins-Keightley, HR Manager for Arts, Humanities, Science and Technology and Alex’s former tutor, having alumni return is about more than just industry tips, it’s about representation and confidence.
Nick said, “There is no one better equipped to inspire our current students than those who once sat in these very same desks. By welcoming our alumni back, we aren’t just sharing career advice; we are providing our students with a tangible roadmap for their future success. Seeing ‘one of their own’ thrive in the professional world makes their career aspirations feel much more attainable.”
The session was packed with actionable advice for students aiming to follow in Alex’s footsteps, including “shooting your shot”. Students had the opportunity to ask Alex questions and even organise work experience with one of our BA (Hons) Digital Marketing and Communications students.
The collaboration between UCP and Peterborough College students during this event highlighted the strong educational pathway available in the city, ensuring that aspiring media professionals are supported from their initial Level 3 studies through to their Honours degrees.
