Who is it for?
Position yourself for an exciting venture into the realm of business marketing. Our support system encompasses a professional network consisting of academic staff, industry leaders, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This framework ensures that you are well-prepared to launch your marketing career after graduation, whether you envision a role within a marketing department or with a marketing agency. Throughout your journey, you will acquire specialised knowledge in business and marketing, complemented by a solid foundation in contemporary business issues, including globalisation, digital communications and the proliferation of social media. Your grasp of business concepts will be showcased through hands-on experiences, including projects and placements. This will ensure that you graduate as a creative, customer-centric and commercially-minded professional with a diverse skill set that is highly valued by employers.
The first year of the course provides you with a grounding in a variety of business disciplines, which underpin later learning. In year two, you begin to specialise in marketing with the module Integrated Marketing Communications. In the final year, the marketing specialism is completed by studying Marketing in the Digital Age, Public Relations and a 30-credit Major Project on a marketing topic of your choice. Teaching staff have strong professional profiles, and our close partnerships with local businesses allow us to draw on their expertise and resources for both input and assessment.
As the foremost professional organisation for management, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is dedicated to developing successful managers and leaders. Our collaboration with CMI enables you to acquire an additional professional qualification alongside your degree. Those enrolled on our BA (Hons) Business Management programme have the opportunity to receive a CMI Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership upon successful completion of their degree. On enrolment, you will automatically become a CMI member, gaining access to a variety of benefits, resources and events designed to support your professional development.
