Our Relationship with The Open University

University Centre Peterborough (UCP) delivers higher education programmes that are validated by The Open University (OU). This means that while your teaching and learning take place at UCP, your final award is conferred by The Open University.
The OU, under the authority of its Royal Charter, is responsible for:
- Academic standards – ensuring that programmes meet UK higher education expectations.
- Awarding degrees – your certificate will bear the name of The Open University.
- Oversight and review – approving new programmes, monitoring quality, and conducting periodic reviews.
UCP, as an OU validated partner, is responsible for:
- Designing and delivering programmes that have been approved by the OU.
- Student support and learning resources – including teaching, assessment, and facilities.
- Quality assurance at the local level, working within OU’s academic framework.
This partnership ensures that your qualification has national and international recognition, with the assurance of The Open University’s standards and reputation, alongside the personalised learning experience provided by UCP.
When referring to your qualification, you should state that it is “a degree validated by The Open University and delivered by University Centre Peterborough.”
