University Centre Peterborough (UCP) recently hosted students from Stamford College for a special university experience day, featuring guest lectures from local industry leaders. The event included talks by Jack Pishhorn, Head of Culture, Tourism and Heritage at North Northants Council, and representatives from The Brave Agency, Mark Leech and Lauren Doncaster. Students were given the opportunity to explore university life, gain insights into their future career prospects, and learn from seasoned professionals in the digital marketing, culture, and heritage sectors

As part of the day’s activities, students participated in an informative session on student finance, helping them understand how they can afford university and manage the associated costs. This practical advice was highly appreciated by students, easing concerns about financial barriers to higher education.

In addition to financial guidance, Jack Pishhorn also delivered an inspiring talk, sharing his career journey with a special focus on his work at The Chester House Estate. His presentation highlighted the wide range of career opportunities in marketing and business that are available in the cultural and heritage sectors. He discussed the challenges and accomplishments of projects such as Chester House Estate, as well as new initiatives like Discover Northamptonshire and The Cornerstone Kettering, offering students a real-world perspective on career progression in this field.

Students also engaged with industry experts, who offered valuable insights into their career journeys and professional experiences. Mark Leech and Lauren Doncaster from The Brave Agency provided a compelling presentation on careers in digital marketing, sharing their expertise on the skills needed to thrive in this dynamic field.
