28 November 2024

University Centre Peterborough is thrilled to unveil its state-of-the-art networking and e-sports facilities, along with a range of innovative degree-level courses designed to equip students with the skills required to thrive in some of the world’s most rapidly growing industries.

As the demand for technological expertise continues to soar, University Centre Peterborough’s new offerings, including new Higher National Diplomas (HND) in e-sports, underline its commitment to providing high-quality education that meets the needs of the future workforce.

The e-sports industry, one of the fastest-growing sectors in the creative industries, is projected to generate £4.4 billion in global revenue by 2027. The centre’s dedicated facilities and new HND programmes offer students exciting e-sports pathways in Athlete, Operations, and Production, preparing them for a wide array of career opportunities in this dynamic field.

In addition to its focus on e-sports, University Centre Peterborough is addressing the critical skills shortage in the UK by offering cutting-edge degree programs in computer science. These courses are designed to ensure students graduate with practical experience and industry-ready expertise to excel in fields spanning healthcare, finance, retail, education, and beyond.

Tymoteusz Gladki, who transitioned from Level 3 Computing at Peterborough College to the HTQ in Digital Technologies (Cyber Security), noted that “the approachable lecturers and small class sizes made it easy to ask questions and get support whenever needed.”

Similarly, Gareth Bisley, a student of HTQ Digital Technologies (Cloud Networking), highlighted the program’s strong track record of success and the value of learning from experienced lecturers, saying, “Studying close to home allowed me to focus on personal and academic growth while learning from industry-experienced lectures.”

Looking to the future, University Centre Peterborough is preparing to launch an exciting UX Degree Apprenticeship, a program that allows students to earn while they learn by working alongside employers to investigate, analyse, and design exceptional digital experiences.
