At our Stamford campus, you can immerse yourself in hands-on learning within our state-of-the-art Animal Studies Unit.
Here, you will encounter a wide variety of animals, from small mammals and reptiles to amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. You will also have access to a dedicated nocturnal room and a spacious outdoor area, which is home to creatures like rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, birds, marmosets, and meerkats!

Rehabilitating previously captive animals for WFFT in Thailand and studying elephant behaviour with AERU in South Africa (African Elephant Research Unit) was a dream gap year for IEG Animal Management graduate Nathan Scott.
Animal Management and Welfare student Chloe Quillson has secured a role as a Ranger at Port Lympne Safari Park. Chloe shared, “I really enjoyed being hands-on with the animals. The course covers such a wide range, and it’s great to have the chance to gain experience with them all.”
HND Animal Management graduate Rebecca has progressed to a role as an Animal Care Assistant at the RSPCA Newbrook Farm Animal Centre. “The course covers everything you need to prepare for working with animals,” she said. “I especially enjoyed learning about the physiology of exotic species.”
Molly Smith undertook BTEC HND Animal Management at University Centre Peterborough (UCP), to grow her knowledge and passion for animal welfare. Whilst studying, Molly was lucky enough to also be working in the industry; “I was zookeeping at the same time. I felt they [UCP] were really supportive”.
Llanya Ohaolain studied HNC Animal Management at University Centre Peterborough to further her interest in animals after studying applied Science at Peterborough College; “I have always had an interest in animals but I mainly picked this course because of the variety of animals they had, specifically the meerkats”.
Rachel Gilbert, a BSc Animal Management and Welfare student, has now progressed onto an Animal Behaviour and Training Council Scholarship. Reflecting on her time on the course, Rachel said, “The lecturers throughout the course have supported me not only in learning about animals but also in building my confidence. I started the course with limited knowledge, but I’ve learnt so much!”
