Who is it for?

This course will be held on two fixed days each week, with a January start scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays. Individuals are a crucial asset in business, and effectively managing the human side of operations can result in a competitive edge within the industry. This BSc (Hons) Business Management (HRM) degree prepares you for a thriving career in human resources. As a human resources manager, you’ll craft policies addressing contemporary workplace issues such as flexible and remote working, equality, and diversity. Additionally, you’ll lead strategies for recruiting and retaining the right workforce.

The degree covers the strategic approach to the employment, development, and well-being of individuals within a business. Throughout the program, you’ll enhance your HRM knowledge, grasp the role of human resources in a business context, and delve into core business disciplines that contribute to organisational success.

Application of your learning occurs through real-world scenarios and projects, with opportunities including paid industry placements during your studies. Engaging in a Business Consultancy Project allows you to work on a live client project with a local business in your final year. Your industry placement ensures you graduate with workplace experience in addition to your degree.

The first year of the course provides you with a grounding in a variety of business disciplines, which underpin later learning. In year two you begin to specialise in Human Resource Management with the module Managing People. In the final year, the HR speciality is completed by studying Responsible Recruitment and Employment Law, Employee Relations and a 30-credit Major Project on a HR topic of the student’s choice.

Teaching staff have strong professional profiles, and our close partnerships with local businesses allow us to draw on their expertise and resources for both input and assessment.

As the foremost professional organisation for management, Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is dedicated to developing successful managers and leaders, our collaboration with CMI (https://www.managers.org.uk/about-cmi/) enables you to acquire an additional professional qualification in tandem with your degree. Those enrolled in our BA (Hons) Business Management program have the opportunity to receive a CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership upon completing their degree. Upon enrolment in the degree course, you automatically become CMI members, gaining access to a variety of benefits, resources, and events designed to bolster your professional development.
