University Centre Peterborough Creative Digital Design Students Collaborate with Metal Culture on Sustainable Pop-Up Reading Room

University Centre Peterborough (UCP) Creative Digital Design students recently joined Metal Culture at their Pop-Up Reading Room in Queensgate Shopping Centre to explore new ways of combining creativity, sustainability and storytelling.

The workshop invited students to imagine and design a portable library experience — one that moves, inspires, and reuses. Together with the Metal team, students explored how design can make a space feel creative, inclusive, and environmentally conscious, using recycled materials from the film industry to reduce waste and spark new ideas.

This collaboration formed part of Metal Culture’s wider mission to connect art, community, and the environment through innovative and sustainable design. It offered students a valuable opportunity to apply their design skills in a real-world context while engaging with professionals working at the intersection of creativity and social impact.
