UCAS Extra 2026 begins on 28th February and runs until early July. If you haven’t secured a place by the
end of the UCAS Extra period, you can still apply through Clearing in August.
It's not too late to start university
We have a range of career-focused programmes starting in September 2026, including Business Management, Computer Science, Counselling, Sport Coaching and Engineering.
2026 Entry Applications
UCAS Extra is a great option for students who are still keen to pursue higher education but didn’t receive offers from their initial choices. It gives you the chance to explore new options, many students even find a better fit through Extra!
If you’ve used all five choices on your UCAS application and either didn’t receive any offers or didn’t meet the conditions, UCAS Extra offers another opportunity to apply. It’s also ideal if you’ve changed your mind about your original choices or want to explore new options without waiting for Clearing.

Your UCAS Application
Starting your UCAS application is your first step toward university. You’ll need to register on the UCAS website to create your account and receive your personal ID. Fill in your personal details, educational history, and course choices carefully. You can select up to five courses (four for medicine, dentistry, or veterinary science). Make sure to double-check all information before submitting.
Check Entry Requirements
Each university and course has specific entry requirements, typically expressed as A-level grades or UCAS tariff points. Look carefully at both the academic and non-academic requirements, such as specific subjects, grades, or additional tests like the UCAT for medicine. You can contact us directly at admissions@ucp.ac.uk if you’re unsure about meeting our criteria, especially if you have alternative qualifications.
Your Personal Statement
Your personal statement is your chance to stand out. In 4,000 characters, explain why you’re passionate about your chosen subject and what makes you suitable for the course. Include relevant academic achievements, work experience, extracurricular activities, and future plans. Show how these experiences have prepared you for university study. Start drafting early and get feedback from teachers or advisers before submitting.
UCAS Extra Eligibility
To use UCAS Extra, you must have applied through the main UCAS cycle and not be holding any offers, firm or insurance. If you’ve declined all your offers, or none were successful, Extra lets you apply for one course at a time. If you’re applying for the first time, you’ll need to go through the main application process or wait for Clearing later in the year.
